Washington: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that India and US have a strong interest in encouraging more resilient and reliable supply chains. In a joint press conference with US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken Blinken in Washington, he said this requires policy decisions as well as practical measures involving business communities.
He added that they discussed the Ukraine conflict, its fuel-food-fertilizer implications, the Indo-pacific, resilient supply chains, climate change, Agenda 2030, mobility, trusted
research, and G-20. He also stressed the need to counter radicalization, extremism, and fundamentalism.
The Minister said there is a very deep concern among developing countries about how their energy needs are addressed. He raised India's concerns over the price of oil saying it is breaking the country's back. Dr Jaishankar flagged some visa-related challenges for Indians to the US Secretary of State on which Mr. Blinken said that the US is aiming to address the concerns.
