Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India and Bhutan are natural partners in bringing prosperity to their people. Addressing the students of the Royal University of Bhutan in Thimphu, he said, no two countries in the world understand each other so well or share so much. 

Mr Modi said, not only geographical proximity but history, culture and spiritual traditions have created unique and deep bonds between the people of the two countries. Prime Minister said India is fortunate to be the land where Prince Siddhartha became Gautam Buddha. 

He said generations of monks and scholars nurtured the special bond between India and Bhutan through their spiritual



message. Bhutan's Prime Minister Lotay Tshering was present on the occasion.

Mr Modi was on a two-day visit to Bhutan. During his stay in Thimphu, he held wide-ranging talks with his Bhutanese counterpart and discussed steps to further expand the bilateral partnership across several sectors.

The two countries inked 10 MoUs in the fields of space research, aviation, IT, power and education to infuse new energy in their ties.

Mr Modi also thanked Bhutan saying the affection he received from the people of this wonderful nation can never be forgotten. He said the outcomes of the visit will enhance bilateral ties.
