Prime Minister Narendra Modi last night met top European Union leaders at Brussels in the 13th EU-India Summit. The summit laid out concrete priority actions for the strategic partnership in areas like trade and investment, climate, energy, water and migration in the next five years.
Talking to news persons in Brussels, MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that issues related to multilateral and regional interests were discussed during the meeting.
In the summit, enhanced
cooperation on counter-terrorism, research and innovation, the digital market and human rights were also discussed. He said, issues related to development of Afghanistan were also discussed at the summit.
The Summit was followed by a working dinner which was attended by European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker.
The EU-India strategic partnership was launched in 2004. The last summit was held in Delhi in 2012.
