India has extended one million dollars immediate assistance to Cyclone-hit Fiji. Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, a C-17 Globemaster aircraft has left for Fiji capital Suva with 45 tonnes of relief material including food products, medicines and tents.




style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Mr Swarup said, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had written to her counterpart in Fiji and offered her condolences for the loss of lives and property. The island nation was hit by Category five Cyclone Winston, with wind speed of upto 325 km per hour. The cyclone has caused widespread damage to the housing stock and power disruption in the island nation.
