President Pranab Mukherjee has said that India's policy towards China is expanding areas of cooperation and reducing differences. Addressing the Indian community at Guanzhou in China yesterday evening, he said, frequent bilateral visits reflects expanding relations between the two great nations.
Mr. Mukherjee said, there has been phenomenal progress in bilateral relations since 1990 and trade between the two countries has increased from 2.9 Billion US Dollars in 2000 to more than 71 Billion US Dollars today. The
President said India and China are closely cooperating with each other in most multilateral fora.
Mr. Mukherjee will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on bilateral, regional and international issues in Beijing today. The President will also meet Chinese Premier Le Keqiang and other top leaders. Mr. Mukherjee arrived in Guanzhou yesterday on a four-day visit to China. He is accompanied by a delegation of top Indian Academicians including Vice Chancellors of Central Universities and Directors of IITs.
