Mumbai: Indrani Mukerjea, the key accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, recorded her statement with the police on Tuesday about the circumstances under which she fell unconscious inside the jail premises.
“State IG (Prisons) has recorded the statement of Indrani in presence of doctors,” a police official told PTI.
Details regarding Indrani’s statement were not yet known.
Newly-appointed IG (Prisons) Bipin Kumar Singh is heading the probe into the circumstances under which Indrani collapsed in Byculla
Women’s Prison, where she is lodged under judicial custody since last month.
Earlier in the evening, Principal Secretary (Appeals and Security) Vijay Satbir Singh said the former media executive was mentally and physically fit. Indrani was discharged from the hospital Tuesday evening and moved to the Byculla Women’s Prison.
After Indrani’s hospitalisation, conflicting reports had emerged on suspected drug overdose in prison. While one report showed she had overdosed on anti-depressant pills, the other found no such evidence.
