ISRO to launch 20 satellites on June 22

ISRO will be launching 20 satellites on a single mission on June 22. The Indian Space Research Organisation said that they will be launching the Indian rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 9.25 am with 20 satellites onboard. The cargo will carry the main Indian observation satellite Cartosat-2 which weighs 725.5kg, while the other 19 satellites (including a few more Indian ones) will weigh around 560kg each. The satellites are from India, US, Canada, Germany and Indonesia and the entire



payload will total around 1,288 kg. The mission will commence on June 22 at 9.25 and will take place for around 26 minutes.
The Cartosat satellite (560kg) will send back images that will be useful for cartographic, urban, rural, coastal land use, water distribution and other applications. Sathyabamasat satellite (1.5kg) from Sathyabama University will collect data on green house gases. The Swayam satellite (1kg) from Pune will provide point-to-point messaging services to the HAM adio community.
