Jammu and Kashmir
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has called an all-party meeting in Srinagar today
to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in the Valley and measures to
be taken to restore peace and normalcy.
An official spokesman of the government had informed on Monday that the invitation has been extended to all the political parties including PDP, BJP, National Conference and Congress. The National Conference (NC) yesterday announced that it will boycott the all-party meeting. The party said it is extremely unfortunate that it took the Mufti government almost two weeks to call a meeting.
It said, until a
credible, effective and humane leadership is re-established in the state, the
all-party meeting would prove to be a meaningless
exercise. Meanwhile, curfew
and restrictions will remain in force in 6 districts including Srinagar for the
13th consecutive day.
Deputy Commission Srinagar Dr Farooq Lone told that the curfew-like restrictions will be in place in all sensitive areas of Srinagar district.
A Police spokesman said, barring few incidents of stone pelting in various areas of Sopore, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Bandipora and Srinagar, the overall situation remained peaceful across the Kashmir valley yesterday.
The police and paramilitary have been deployed across Kashmir valley in strength to maintain law and order.
