According to sources, the Chief Minister may visit some slum areas in the Old City and might announce a special package for their development. The State Government is in receipt of several representations from the Old City areas seeking benefits under weaker section housing scheme. Therefore, the Chief Minister is likely to announce a separate scheme to provide housing facility to the poor residents of Old City.

According to TRS senior leader Rashid Shareef, who is also the incharge of Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency, the local TRS leaders have been inviting the Chief Minister for the last few weeks. However, due to busy schedules, the Chief Minister's tour programme could not be fixed. However, he said that the local TRS workers have been given indications that the Chief Minister might visit the old city next week. He said that the State Government has extended several benefits to the residents of Old City during the last seven months.
For the first time ever, Rashid Shareef claimed, that thousands of old age persons, widows and physically handicapped persons got pensions. Similarly, nearly 3,000 applications under
'Shaadi Mubarak' scheme, which provides Rs 51,000 to the poor Muslim girls at the time of their marriage, have been forwarded for approval. They claim that majority of those workers hail from the Old City and are living in deplorable conditions due to non-regularisation of their services. They have also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali on this issue on Saturday.
