Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will meet US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter at the Pentagon today, which will be followed by a joint press conference. Mr Parrikar left for the United States yesterday to hold bilateral meeting with his US counterpart at Washington.
The Pentagon said that Mr Carter will welcome Mr Parrikar to the US Defence Department headquarters. Following the arrival ceremony there will be a wreath laying ceremony
at the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial.
Terrorism and the signing of the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement is likely to top the agenda for talks. The Defence Minister is also expected to bring up the instability that Pakistan's involvement is creating in Jammu and Kashmir. This will be Mr Parrikar's sixth meeting with Mr Carter. It comes just weeks after India was designated a major defence partner of the United States.
