Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and revival of fertilizer factory in Gorakhpur today. He will also unveil the statue of late Mahanth Awedyanath at Gorakhnath temple in the city. After that Prime Minister will address a public gathering in the premises of the old fertilizer factory. In view of Prime Minister's programmes tight security arrangements have been made. Even the neighbouring districts of Gorakhpur bordering Nepal have been put on alert.
A long-pending demand of the people of East Uttar Pradesh is going to be fulfilled
with the setting up of AIIMS and revival of the fertilizer factory lying closed for last twenty six years. The Gorakhpur unit of fertilizer corporation of India was closed after a lock out following death of an employee. The Union Government has approved the revival of the Gorakhpur fertilizer plant along with Barauni and Sindari units. Each of these units will produce at least 13 lakh metric tons of fertilizer per year. The new fertilizer factory at Gorakhpur will be gas based and the gas will be supplied through the pipeline to be laid by the Gas Authority of India from Haldia to Jagdishpur via Gorakhpur.
