Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Washington tonight after completing his tour of Afghanistan, Qatar and Switzerland. This is Prime Minister's fourth visit to the United States. The main objective of the visit would be to consolidate the progress made in diverse areas such as economy, energy, environment, defence, security and above all to intensify cooperation for the future.
Apart from his meeting with the President Barack Obama, Mr Modi will also interact with CEOs of major US companies. Mr Modi has already built a personal rapport with Mr Obama and worked constructively with him on issues like climate change and renewable energy.
Mr Obama's visit to
India in 2015 as chief guest at our Republic Day celebrations indicates that both sides want to work together to expand their bilateral ties. But all eyes will be on the Prime Minister when he addresses the joint sitting of the US Congress on Wednesday.
The business community in the United States are excited about Prime minister Narendra Modi's visit. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, President of the US India Business Council Mukesh Aghi said, India offers a tremendous opportunities to US companies. Mr Aghi expressed hope that Mr Modi may announce something big for US companies during this visit. Mr Modi will also travel to Mexico before returning to India.
