Jaffna: Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, L Murugan reached Jaffna in Sri Lanka yesterday. He received a warm welcome from the people and the Indian Consular office in Jaffna.
As connectivity through Passenger ferry services is soon to commence between the two countries, the minister visited Kankesanthurai Port which will be connected from Puducherry.
Mr. Murugan also paid his respects to Former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s bust at
India Corner in Jaffna Public Library. He also handed over dry ration to 250 needy families in Jaffna.
During his visit to Sri Lanka, Mr. Murugan will attend the dedication of the Jaffna Cultural Center to the people on Saturday. He will also interact with Sri Lankan president Ranil Wickremasinghe and other stakeholders during the visit.
The Jaffna Cultural Center project was built with Indian grant assistance.
