New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra
Modi on Saturday paid his tributes to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the country’s
first prime minister on his 126th birth anniversary.
“Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s life was spent in giving India freedom & leading India as the 1st PM. Tributes to him on his birth anniversary,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted. The day is also celebrated as Children’s Day in the country, considering Nehru’s love towards kids and contribution to the educational sector.
Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party leader Rahul Gandhi and many others paid floral tributes to Pt. Nehru at Shantivan. President Mukherjee, also showered his blessings and wishes on the children, saying that the future of the nation depends on them.

the children of this country on the occasion of Children’s Day. The future of
our nation depends on our children,” he said in a series of tweets. The
President added that the children have immense potential to contribute to
society and humanity if they are provided with adequate opportunity and
guidance.
“When provided adequate opportunity and guidance, they have immense potential to contribute to society and humanity. We should encourage children to dream big about the future of our nation and explore their potential to the full,” he added.
As part of children’s day celebrations, many programmes will be arranged in schools, where children dress up in the trademark attire of Chacha ji with a red rose on the buttonhole.
