NIA will subject
senior Punjab Police officer Salwinder Singh to a polygraph, or lie-detector
test today in connection with the Pathankot terror attack probe. Yesterday a
Special Court in New Delhi allowed the NIA to conduct a lie-detector test on
Salwinder Singh.
Sources said, during
in-chamber proceedings, the NIA told the judge that there were inconsistencies
in the statements of Salwinder during questioning. Salwinder consented before
the judge to undergo the
polygraph test.
The court had directed the agency to get the lie-detector test within three days. Salwinder had claimed he was kidnapped by the terrorists while riding a personal vehicle which was hijacked and later used by the terrorists on the night of 31st of last month. According to NIA, there are contradictions in Salwinder's statement. Seven security personnel and six terrorists were killed in the Pathankot attack that started on January 2nd morning.
