Lucknow: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the NDA government did not have majority in the Rajya Sabha to bring the legislation for Ram Temple in the Parliament.

The minister’s remark was questioned on whether the Centre would consider bringing a legislation in the Parliament to pave way for the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya. “We do not have majority in the Rajya Sabha,” Singh said in Ayodhya.

“The HC has already given its verdict in the matter...we should wait

for the judgment of the Supreme Court,” the minister added. Singh, however, evaded a direct reply when asked if the government would consider the same if it got majority in the Upper House.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad has been demanding a parliamentary legislation for the construction of Ram Temple on the disputed land at Ayodhya.

Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon visit Ayodhya for ‘darshan’ (paying obeisance) at the makeshift Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
