The Indian Government has started the operation 'Sankat Mochan' this morning to evacuate its citizens stranded in South Sudan's capital Juba. Two C-17 military transport aircrafts have been pressed in service to make the evacuation. The operation is being headed by Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) VK Singh.
In a tweet, MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup announced about the commencement of the operation early this morning, with General Singh on board.

Embassy in Juba in an advisory had communicated that all the stranded Indian citizens should get in touch immediately with the embassy to avail the facility.
The Indian Embassy in South Sudan has alerted Indians in Juba about the evacuation plan. Indian Ambassador to South Sudan Srikumar Menon said, all preparations has been completed for the evacuation.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held a high level meeting to review the situation in South Sudan. In a tweet she also gave out best wishes to Indian Airforce who are carrying out the operation.
