Pakistani soldiers
crossed into the Indian territory in the Machhal sector of northern Kashmir’s
Kupwara district and ambushed a patrol team, killing three Indian soldiers and
decapitating one of them.
The deceased have been identified as grenadier Manoj K Kushwah of Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh, rifleman Prabhu Singh of Teh Shergarh in Rajasthan and rifleman Shashank K Singh of Teh Mohamadabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Sources said the
ambush was carried out by the Border Action Team (BAT) of the Pakistan army,
which also consists of commandos and dreaded terrorists from the
Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizbul
Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad outfits.
Sources told that an area domination patrol party of the Army was patrolling the posts near the Line of Control (LoC) fence in the early hours when the BAT attacked them. “A BAT, wearing black combat uniform, crossed the LoC and laid an ambush inside the Indian territory,” they said.Sources maintained that the BAT managed to escape from the spot after carrying out the deadly attack.
“As Indian posts are closer to Pakistan in the Machhal sector, the rugged terrain and thick forest give infiltrators an advantage to escape,” they added.
