As part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between India and Brazil, a 10-member Parliament goodwill delegation led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi visited Brazil from the 11th to 13th of June. This visit highlights the importance India places on its strategic partnership with Brazil, which began in 2006.
The delegation paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by visiting his busts in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, symbolizing shared democratic values and peace between the two nations. The
delegation held meetings with Brazilian Parliament officials, including the President of the Federal Senate Rodrigo Otavio Soares Pacheco and discussed mutual understanding and cooperation.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the significant increase in bilateral trade, which surged by 115 per cent between 2020 and 2022, reaching 15.20 billion dollar. Mr. Joshi also met with the Indian community in Brazil, strengthening the bond between the diaspora and India.
