The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) will be developing the park at Mahankali in Maheswaram Mandal, near Hyderabad. The DPR reaching an advanced stage is bound to cheer the stakeholders in the plastics industry as the project, originally conceived a few years ago, had lacked the desired momentum. Apart from the government taking time to settle and addressing larger aspects associated with industrial development, starting with the unveiling of a policy, the project itself got caught in issues pertaining to land acquisition. The 100 acres on which it is proposed now is a scaled down version considering that the original plan involved over 150 acres. TSIIC or the SPV, as the case may be, will develop the infrastructure and market the project, promoted as part of the State government’s decision to promote plastic sector. It is among the 14 thrust areas identified by the government for industrial development. On the type of units that will find space at the park, Mr.Vennam listed flexible packaging, blow and injection moulding and plastic engineering.
