Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a community event at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
Addressing the Indian diaspora, Mr Modi said, India and Oman enjoy historic ties which span more than thousands of years. He expressed pride at witnessing what he termed a mini-India in Muscat and said, Indians are contributing to the growth of Oman as the country's goodwill ambassadors.
The Prime Minister said, Sultan of Oman has an inseparable bond with India. He said, the aim of his visit is to further strengthen the bonds between the two countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed hundreds of Indian expatriates at the colourful event which also showcased dance performances by the Indian community living in Oman.
Amid cheers from the crowd, Mr Modi lauded the Indian diaspora’s contribution to Oman’s nation
building and India’s historic relations with the Gulf nation.
The Prime Minister also listed out his government’s pro-poor initiatives.
He pointed out that with the mantra of 'Minimum Government - Maximum Governance', his government has helped simplify the lives of the common people.
The Prime Minister said, every Indian is working towards fulfilling the resolution of 'New India'. He added that his government is making procedures simpler, abolishing unnecessary laws, and is taking action on the people's problems with sincerity.
Today, Mr Modi will address the India-Oman Business meet and is scheduled to hold talks with the two Deputy Prime Ministers of Oman.
He will visit the Grand Mosque and the Shiva Temple before returning home in the evening.
