Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed for peace in the the violence hit Kashmir. He also extended every possible assistance to the state in maintaining law and order. His appeal came after he had a high level meeting in New Delhi with senior Union Ministers to take stock of the prevailing situation there. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Mr. Modi was hopeful that innocent lives are not disturbed. He said the Prime Minister is keeping a close watch on events in the valley.
Quoting sources, PTI reports that the Prime Minister is said to have expressed unhappiness over the media coverage of violent protests in Kashmir valley. Mr. Modi told the meeting that the militant, who was involved in terror activities and was working for disintegrating the country, has been portrayed as a hero. The Prime Minister cited over a dozen cases registered against the militant, most of which were serious in nature under



the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said the police and paramilitary forces have been asked to exercise maximum restraint to avoid loss of civilian lives or grievous injuries. She also sought cooperation from all sections of people to help the government in restoring peace and normalcy. Chief Minister met Governor NN Vorha yesterday and discussed various issues including the law and order situation in the state.
Meanwhile, 4445 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir yesterday. With this a total of 1 lakh 37 thousand and 719 yatri's had darshan at the cave shrine since the yatra began on July 2.
Spiritual head of Ajmer Dargah Zainul Abedin Ali Khan held the ideology of Islamic Preachers like Zakir Naik and policies of separatists responsible for disturbance in the Kashmir valley. He said Muslim religious leaders should meet to oppose such ideologies to restore peace in the valley.
