Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a very intense and successful visit to the United States. Briefing media in New York, Mr. Misri said, the community event held during the Prime Minister’s visit showed the kind of connect that the Indian American community has built in the US.

He said, the Indian diaspora is a living bridge between the two countries and the Prime Minister acknowledged it. He said the visit had a very strong technology element to it, which is reflected in the Quad Joint Statement and in the US-India Bilateral Factsheet.

The Foreign Secretary provided insights into the various bilateral meetings PM Modi held with different world leaders.

For the meeting with Nepal, Mr. Misri said that this was the first time that the Prime Minister of Nepal and PM Modi were meeting. This meeting gave them the opportunity to reflect on the unique and close bilateral relationship between the two countries and their intention to make progress in all areas of bilateral relations, including the development partnership, the cooperation on energy, power, physical



connectivity and people-to-people connectivity.

Regarding PM’s meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, the Secretary mentioned that there are a few high-level visits in both directions that were deliberated upon and these will be planned in the coming months.

On the bilateral meeting of PM Modi and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, Mr. Misri said that President Zelenskyy thanked the Prime Minister for the efforts that he was making for peace and a pathway to finding a way out of this conflict.

The Foreign Secretary stated that in the Prime Minister’s meeting with the President of Palestine, PM Modi expressed deep concern at the unfolding crisis in Gaza, where the situation remains complicated and tensions remain high and reiterated once again that only a two-state solution can deliver sustainable peace in this area.

The President of Palestine thanked the Prime Minister for the assistance that India had provided, including on political issues and hoped that India would continue to play its role in bringing peace to the region.
