PM Modi meets Jordon King Abdulla II in Amman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Jordon King Abdullah II yesterday on his arrival in Amman on the first leg of his tour to three West Asian countries, including Palestine. In a tweet after meeting Mr. Modi said, he had wonderful meeting that would further boost India-Jordan ties. 

During the meeting, Mr. Modi told the King that he is looking forward to his visit to India later this month. The King described the meeting as the beginning of a new chapter in the bilateral ties. Jordan's state-run Petra news agency reported that talks between the two leaders covered the Palestinian cause and



Jordan's role in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. 

The talks also focused on coordination and consultation between the two countries in various fields. The King highlighted the key role played by India in promoting security, stability and fighting terrorism. Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted that Prime Minister Modi expressed sincere thanks for logistical support extended for smooth facilitation for his Palestine visit. This is Mr. Modi's first visit to Jordan and also the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 30 years.
