Prime Minister
Narendra Modi will address the 51st Annual Conference of Directors General and
Inspectors General of Police in Hyderabad today.The 3-day national conference
began yesterday, with DGPs and IGPs of a number of states and Union Territories
and top officials of various central intelligence security agencies taking
part.
Inaugurating the conference, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, the security situation in the country, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Left Wing extremism affected areas has improved in the past one year.
He stressed the need
for close
co-ordination between central and state forces for improving the
situation further. Mr Singh said, healthy competition among various security
agencies is yielding good results.
The Home Minister also said, elections will be held in some states soon and it is the responsibility of police Chiefs to ensure peaceful completion of the poll process.Ministers of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju and Gangaram Ahir and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval are also attending the conference.
A host of issues, including cross-border terrorism and terror funding, are being discussed during the conference.
