Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a four nation tour beginning today. He will visit Germany first. Trade and commerce, economic cooperation and counter terrorism will be high on the agenda during the Prime Minister’s visit to Germany, Spain, Russia and France.
Mr. Modi will take part in series of events during his visit to three West European countries and Russia. He will take part in the 4th Indo-German Inter-governmental Consultations and meet German Chancellor to strengthen bilateral relations.
Mr. Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Spain in almost 30 years. He will meet top leaders of Spain and also interact with group of CEOs who are interested to invest in India.
The Prime Minister will attend St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia and meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.He will also attend the 18th India-Russia Annual Summit. Before wrapping up his tour, Mr. Modi will visit France and meet newly elected President Emmanuel
Macron.
Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe and German FDI was to the tune of 1.14 billion dollar in 2015.Apart from trade, issues of counter terrorism, development cooperation, science and technology and education will also be discussed to strengthen India-Germany relations.
In a series of messages, Prime Minister hoped that this visit will open a new chapter in bilateral relations with Germany and further deepen strategic partnership.
Mr Modi said, India will seek active participation of Spanish industry in various Indian projects including infrastructure, smart cities, digital economy, renewable energy, defence and tourism.
Mr. Modi also expressed his commitment to strengthening and advancing India's multi faceted partnership with France which is India's 9th largest investment partner.
The Prime Minister further said, he is looking forward to visit St.Petersburg in this special year as India and Russia celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
