Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with full Council of Ministers today. During the meeting, progress of different flagship schemes and development initiatives taken by the government are expected to come up for discussion. This would be the first meeting of the full council after BJP's massive victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly elections.
In the meeting the full council of ministers will likely to discuss GST bill. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, yesterday introduced in the Lok Sabha four bills pertaining to the GST. The passage of the bill by Parliament will pave the way replacing the current patchwork of national, state and local levies with a single, unified value added tax system and integrating the country as one market. A full day on Wednesday has been kept for discussion on the bills in the Lok Sabha.Passage of the GST Bill has been accorded high priority ahead of completion of three years of the Narendra Modi government in May.
