Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a multi-modal terminal on River Ganga at Sahebganj in Jharkhand today. The state of the art terminal, to be constructed at an estimated cost of 280 crore rupees, is an important component of the development of the National Waterway-1 from Varanasi to Haldia.
National Waterway-1 is being developed under the Jal Marg Vikas Project of the Inland Waterways Authority of India, with the technical and financial assistance of World
Bank at an estimated cost of around 5,400 crore rupees.The terminal will have a cargo handling capacity of 2.24 Million Tonnes Per Annum. The construction of the terminal will contribute to the creation of business and employment opportunities in the state, particularly in rural areas.
Mr Modi will also dedicate to the nation Solar Power Facility at the Sahebganj district court premises and Sahebganj district hospital. He will also inaugurate Govindpur-Jamtara-Dumka-Sahebganj Highway.
