Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in China on Friday and Saturday for an informal summit meeting with President Xi Jinping. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj made the announcement at a joint briefing with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing yesterday. She said, the meeting in Wuhan city will be an important occasion for the two sides to exchange views on bilateral and international matters with an aim to enhance mutual communication.
The External Affairs Minister also announced that the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nathu La route will resume this year.On her meeting with Chinese
Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Mrs Swaraj said, the two sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral relations and discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Mr Wang said, the bilateral ties have shown a positive momentum this year under the guidance of the top leaders of the two nations. He said, India's membership to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) has expanded its potential and influence, and is providing a new platform for the India-China co-operation.Mrs Swaraj will take part in the SCO Foreign Ministers' meeting tomorrow.
