Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar arrived today in Dhaka on a two day visit to attend the 15th meeting of the Governing Council of South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) tomorrow. He was received by the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguli Das at the airport.
The Minister will meet the Information Minister of Bangladesh Hasan Mahmood today in the afternoon. He will also visit Bangabandhu Memorial Museum to pay respects
to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) is an inter-governmental organization which was established in 1982. Its member countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka aim to promote and support protection, management and enhancement of the environment in the region.
The 14th meeting of the SACEP Governing Council was held in March last year in Colombo.
