New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Tuesday that the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT) 2015 will be held afresh on July 25.

The board did not announce the date for declaration of the results and is yet to finalise the centres where the test will be held.

“Candidates are advised to be in touch with AIPMT website. All eligible candidates are requested to ensure functioning of their e-mail Id’s and mobile numbers given while submitting their application to receive the updates issued by the CBSE from time to time,” the board stated.

The apex court had scrapped the AIPMT 2015 held on May 3 after a PIL complained of irregularities in conduct of the exam. The court further directed the CBSE to hold the re-exam and announce the results on or before August 17.

It also directed the board to ensure that the first counselling session is held on or before August 28, the second on or before September 4 and the third on or before

September 11.

“The test has to be re-conducted in compliance with the apex court order. We have announced the date in advance so that students can prepare for the test. We will soon inform the candidates about their examination centres and other details about the test,” sources in the CBSE told Deccan Herald.

All those who applied for the test within the stipulated time from December 1, 2014 to January 31, 2015, with requisite fee will be eligible to appear in the test, they added.

The apex court decision may have brought cheers to many MBBS aspirants, but several candidates are in a dilemma as various states, including Punjab and Bihar, which hold their own MBBS entrance test to fill the 85 per cent state quota seats, are going ahead with the counselling process.

Over 6 lakh students appeared in the AIPMT held across the country on May 3. Medical colleges fill 15 per cent of their seats from the all-India merit list of candidates who appear in the AIPMT.
