President Droupadi Murmu has said that education is a medium of social transformation and nation-building. Addressing the New Zealand International Education conference at Takina Wellington Convention Centre in Wellington, the President said, the Government of India has taken several steps to improve the quality of education in the country.
President Murmu, who is on a two-day state visit to New Zealand, reached the capital Wellington. She was accorded the ceremonial welcome and Royal Guard of Honour at the Government House in Wellington in the presence of Governor-General of New Zealand Dame Cindy
Kiro. The traditional Maori culture was on display at the ceremonial welcome. President Murmu was invited to the Hongi practice by the Governor General. She also witnessed the Haka performance.
President Murmu will hold bilateral talks with New Zealand Governor General, Dame Cindy Kiro, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters at the Government House. Later in the day, she will lay a wreath at the Pukeahu National War Memorial and attend the state banquet hosted by the Governor General.
