President Droupadi Murmu has said that India stands as a shining example of progress in today’s world of uncertainties. She made these remarks while speaking at the Slovakia-India Business Forum, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bratislava yesterday. She also invited Slovakian businesses to participate in the ‘Make in India’ programme.

President Murmu noted that Slovakia is seeking skilled and hardworking professionals from abroad to help meet its workforce requirements. She emphasized that Indian talent could be a valuable contributor to Slovakia’s economic growth.

The President said India expects to become a five trillion US dollar economy in the upcoming years. She added that India hopes to do it in partnership with our friends, such as Slovakia. She added that India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, and Slovakia, with its strong industrial base and strategic location in Europe, presents great opportunities for deeper trade and investment targets.

President Murmu underscored that as a key member of the European Union and a hub for the automotive, defense, and high-tech industries, Slovakia stands to benefit from India’s

large consumer market, skilled workforce, and thriving startup ecosystem.

The President also visited the Jaguar Land Rover Factory located in the historic town of Nitra. She was accompanied by the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini. They visited the state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities of the plant and also met the workers. The plant employs Indians, apart from Slovaks and Ukrainians.

Later, President Murmu and her Slovakian counterpart Pellegrini jointly planted a Linden tree, the national tree of Slovakia, at the City Park on Sihoť, Nitra. Mr. Marek Hattas, Mayor of Nitra, was also present on the occasion.

Later, President Murmu addressed the Indian Community in Bratislava. She said that India is going through an inspirational development. By the end of this year, India will become the third largest economy in the world, she said.

President Murmu arrived in Slovakia on Wednesday in the second leg of her two-nation state visit, becoming only the second Indian Head of State to visit the Slovak Republic. The last time an Indian President visited Slovakia was 29 years ago.
