Belgrade: President Droupadi Murmu has said that India is on the way to become the third-largest economy of the world before the end of this decade. She was addressing the Indian community and friends of India at a community reception in Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia yesterday. The President is on a 3-day state visit to Serbia.

Before the start of the program of community reception, a minute of silence was observed to remember those who lost their lives in the tragic train accident at Balasore, Odisha.

During her address, highlighting the progress made across various sectors in India, the President said that new infrastructure is coming up all over the country at a breathtaking pace and India is moving confidently in the direction of becoming a developed state by 2047.

High-level business delegations of both countries are also scheduled to meet in Belgrade today. The business delegation comprises



members from 3 major chambers of the country- ASSOCHAM, CII and FICCI.  

Expressing confidence in the business delegation, President Murmu said that she is certain that following the talks, business and investment across various sectors will increase.

President Murmu arrived in Serbia on Tuesday and was received by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić at the Nikola Tesla airport. She also paid floral tributes to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandijeva Street.

Today, the President will hold delegation-level talks with her Siberian counterpart, President Vučić. Later, President Murmu will also lay a wreath at the monument of the unknown hero at Mount Awala.

The focus of the ongoing visit is to encourage the business communities of both countries to explore possibilities and prospects of business opportunities.
