President Ram Nath Kovind has called for a comprehensive global strategy to eradicate terrorism. Addressing the Equatorial Guinean Parliament at Malabo last night, Mr Kovind said, terrorism is a global challenge, but it is being dealt with in a piecemeal manner. He sought
Equatorial Guinea's support for early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations.
"Earlier in a joint statement, Presidents of the two countries expressed their willingness to join hands with the international community in the eradication of terrorism. They agreed on the need to
take strong measures against terrorist organizations, terrorists and their network.
The two leaders also called for an urgent need to reform the UN Security Council to make it more representative and reflective of the Geo-political realities of 21st century.
President Kovind has conferred the highest Civilian Award of Equatorial Guinea. The President of Equatorial Guinea Obiang Nguema Mbasogo presented this award to Mr Kovind. In the second leg of his six-day tour, the President will leave for Swaziland this afternoon.
