Presidential assent has been refused to a Delhi government bill seeking to exclude the post of Parliamentary Secretary from the office of profit.
In June last year, Delhi Assembly had passed the bill to give exemption to parliamentary secretaries appointed by the Arvind Kejriwal government to hold
dual office.
The move of Aam Aadmi Party government was aimed at preventing the disqualification of its 21 parliamentary secretaries as MLAs because of the illegality of holding two offices of profit simultaneously.
BJP and Congress have been terming the appointments as illegal.
