Hyderabad: The 12-day Godavari Pushkaralu will be celebrated like that of Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh, said Endowment Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy.
Talking to mediapersons at Secretariat here, the minister said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the holy Pushkaralu at an auspicious time 6.21 am at Dharmapuri in Karimnagar district. The Chief Minister has already spoken to his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis for release of waters to Basara to pave the way for the Pushkar festivities, he
said.
“Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao was pursuing with the Maharashtra government and we need 5 tmc of water”, the minister said. Except at Basara in Adilabad district, there was no water problem at all other places, he stated. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the Pushkaralu in all five districts of Adilabad Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam, Reddy said. During last pushkaralu, some three crore people attended Pushkarlu and this time we are expecting about six to eight crore people to take a holy dip, he added
