The 7th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Interior Ministers' conference will begin in Islamabad today. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be inaugurating the meeting today. Home Minister Rajnath Singh among other interior ministers except from Bangladesh are attending the meet.
All eyes will be on Home Minister Rajnath Singh's address. New Delhi has ruled out a bilateral meeting between Mr Singh and his counterpart Chaudhry Nisar, and Islamabad also
does not appear to seek such a meeting.
Everyone expect that Rajnath Singh will raise the issue of cross-border terrorism at the meeting. Sources say, Rajnath's speech will also mention Pathankot alongside other attacks witnessed in South Asian Centres like Dhaka and Kabul.
Amidst threats of protest by Hafiz Saeed, Mr Singh arrived here yesterday. People in Pakistan also believe despite provocations, India and Pakistan must keep communication lines open.
