Mumbai: Sanjeev Khanna, second husband of TV mogul Peter Mukerjea’s wife Indrani, confessed that he was in the car when she strangled her daughter Sheena Bora to death three years ago.
Khanna told the police in Kolkata that there were also plans to kill Sheena’s brother, Mikhail Bora. However, it did not materialise. In Guwahati, Mikhail, too, told a special team of the Mumbai Police that he could have been a target and that Indrani had threatened him earlier.
Assam Police sources said Mikhail will be taken to Mumbai on Friday for further interrogation. He was neither detained nor arrested. He has been asked to come to Mumbai to help investigation.
Two full-time nurses have been arranged to look after his ailing grandparents. The murder case
has hit headlines as Peter, Indrani’s third and present husband, was the man who roped in actor Amitabh Bachchan for “Kaun Banega Crorepati” and also launched the popular soap “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” during his stint as CEO of Star India. “Khanna has admitted that he was present in the vehicle during the time of the murder. But he has not said whether he helped kill Sheena,” said public prosecutor Sourin Ghosal.
Peter's son from his first marriage, Rahul, who had a five-year relationship with Sheena, was also grilled twice within 24 hours. Rahul stays with mother Shabnam Singh in Dehradun, where Peter’s former in-laws said it was hard to believe the former Star India CEO was not aware that Sheena was Indrani's daughter and not sister.
