NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday decided to hear the cancellation of bail of former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Shahabuddin on September 28.
The apex court turned down Shahabuddin's plea and directed him to be ready to defend himself on Wednesday on why bail should not be canceled.
Lawyer Prashant Bhushan told the
court that there were 45 cases against Shahabuddin, out of which nine are murder cases and 10 cases in which he had been convicted. The petition has been filed by Bhushan on behalf of the victim's family, which was upset to see Shahabuddin walk free.
Shahabuddin's lawyer asked for more time to respond in the matter.
The Supreme Court was hearing the petitions challenging the Patna high court's order.
