Mumbai, February 16, 2015 (Agency)Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra’s former home minister R. R. Patil, who was diagnosed with cancer recently, passed away on Monday.He was 58.Patil was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital a couple of months ago and underwent Former home minister RR Patil underwent an angiography at the Bombay Hospital in Marine Lines on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest. The senior leader was lucky to have a doctor at his disposal when his heart had stopped beating at his residence on Saturday.According to sources, the doctor



resuscitated him by giving a cardiac massage. The senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader was rushed to the Bombay Hospital in the afternoon once he revived. His blood pressure however continued to be erratic. He is currently under observation at the ICU.Cardiologist Dr BK Goyal, who treated Patil said, "The minister had come with a low blood pressure. He was sweating profusely when he came here. Cardiac arrests can be fatal is a person is no resuscitated on time". He added that the cause for Patil's cardiac arrest continues to be a mystery, as his angiography did not reveal much.
