Supreme Court grants interim bail to Jayalalitha

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, who was sentenced to four years’ given  simple imprisonment and imposed a Rs. 100-crore fine for her offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Friday.  The interim bail is applicable till December 18, 2014. The Chief Justice has asked for paperbook to keep ready  after  the date will be set for appeal hearing.

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa sought relief from  custody  on the grounds that she is a woman, 66-years-old and suffers from different ailments. A public interest litigation writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday for a direction to the Karnataka government to shift Jayalalithaa from the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara in Bangalore to the Central Prison, Chennai
