Hyderabad: Responding positively to the plea of Telangana Government to allow the construction of the new state secretariat in the 60-acre Bison Polo Ground in Secunderabad in lieu of alternative land and other defence-related issues, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday assured Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to assign defence officials soon to survey the ground.
Mr Parrikar also would discuss issues including permission to lay pipelines in the Cantonment to bring Godavari waters to the city from Yellampally, allotment of defence lands for expansion
of roads in the Cantonment area and the establishment of two Sainik Schools for Telangana to be located in Warangal and Mahabubnagar districts.
The Chief Minister met the Defence Minister in New Delhi and Union home minister Rajnath Singh to discuss various issues.
TRS Floor leader in the Lok Sabha, Mr Jitender Reddy said that Mr Parrikar made a request to the Chief Minister on allotment of additional land for the Tata Aerospace project at Adibatla near Hyderabad to which the Chief Minister responded positively.
