Hyderabad: The Krishna River Management Board which met here on Thursday finalised the provisional allocation of water to both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States as per water availability. Riparian rights of the two Telugu States were discussed till late in the evening at the high level meeting held with the Central Water Commission Secretary and Krishna River Management Board Chairman A.B. Pandya in chair.
Out of the 811 tmc made available as per the tribunal award basing it on 75 per cent dependability, the board allocated 512 tmc of water to Andhra Pradesh and 299 tmc to Telangana. Further, from Nagarjunasagar, Andhra Pradesh was allocated 164 tmc and Telangana 100 tmc respectively.

Krishna, Chief Engineer of Andhra Pradesh who took part in the meeting said that allocation of 16 TMC water for Hyderabad from the joint pool is one of the points discussed. The meeting focused its attention to project wise allocation so as to ensure a fair deal for both the States
According to sources, irrespective of the outcome of the meeting, the Board would continue its efforts to resolve the water distribution issues. The minutes of the meeting would serve as the base for further discussions in future. “Water is major issue of concern between both the States, we want to resolve this issue once for all and therefore time is not a limit for us,” said an official of water resources.
