JEDDAH 19 February 2015 (Agency) Famous Indian cricketing brothers, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, performed Umrah in Makkah two days ago.
They tweeted pictures showing them inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah draped in ihram, and later at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
“I feel blessed to be here in Makkah,” tweeted Yusuf on Tuesday. “I feel like a winner after completing Umrah with my family.”Irfan wrote: “Completed Umrah yesterday. It feels like I’m doing it for the first time.”The two arrived in the Kingdom on Feb. 12. “This is the most sacred place on earth,” said Yusuf of Makkah.Irfan and Yusuf are from a middle class family from Baroda, Gujarat. Their father served as a muezzin at a local mosque. Yusuf, the elder brother, is a



hard-hitting batsman whose exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has made him a popular celebrity.Irfan made his mark as a fast bowler for the Indian team. He has been out of form for some time but his contribution to Indian cricket has been phenomenal. He was once described as the blue-eyed boy of the Indian cricket team and compared to Pakistan’s legendary bowler Wasim Akram.The reaction on Twitter after the two brothers posted the pictures was instant.Syed H. Hashmi, via @SyedHHashmi, wrote: “Mabrook. May Allah bless you. Pray for the whole Ummah.”Fariha Nazir Sheikh, whose Twitter handle is @im_Fariha, wrote: “Masha’Allah, Masha’Allah, Masha’Allah. Many congratulations. But don’t forget to pray for us. Kindly keep us in your prayers.”
