Senior BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat will be sworn-in as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand today and Governor KK Paul will administer him the oath of office and secrecy at a function in Dehradun’s Parade Ground at 3 PM. Mr Rawat was unanimously elected the leader of BJP legislature party yesterday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah will be among host of dignitaries who will attend the ceremony.
Talking to media persons, Mr Rawat said, BJP will provide a corruption-free government to
Uttarakhand and will work to uplift the poor. A former RSS Pracharak, Mr Rawat has been fiercely loyal to BJP.As party in-charge, he proved his organisational skills by guiding BJP to electoral victory in Jharkhand assembly elections in 2014. Mr Rawat also has considerable administrative experience as he was a minister in the BJP governments led by BC Khanduri and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
In recent Uttarakhand Assembly elections, BJP won 57 of the 70 seats. This was the biggest ever win by any party in state so far.
