United Nations has condoled the killing of 39 Indians, saying the tragedy is yet another example of the "barbarism and cruelty" of the notorious terror outfit. Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq Jan Kubis extended his deepest sorrow and condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and Government of India.
President Ram Nath Kovind has said, he is extremely sad to learn of tragic end of 39 Indian citizens in Iraq. In a tweet, Mr Kovind said, every Indian shares pain and grief of bereaved families. He appreciated efforts of government and the officials who worked hard to take the sad episode to a conclusion over the past four
years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, every Indian grieves with those who lost their loved ones in Mosul. In a tweet, Mr Modi said the country stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and pay the respects to the Indians killed in Mosul.
Congress offered condolences to families of those who were killed in Iraq. Congress Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad in a tweet demanded that the next of kin should be given financial assistance by central & state govt & also employment in govt. service.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh expressed grief over the death of Indians kidnapped by the Islamic State in Iraq's Mosul in 2014.
