Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari reached Rabat the Moroccan Capital last night on the first leg of his two nation visit. Mr. Ansari was received at the airport by Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane.
Talking to media persons on board, Mr. Ansari said, during the visit, India will be looking to provide a fresh impetus to its relations with the two North African countries - Morocco
and Tunisia - and explore new avenues of co-operation.
Asked whether there is a sudden push towards strengthening ties with Africa, the Vice President said, Africa has been New Delhi's focus since independence.
The Vice President also condemned the recent attacks on African nationals in India saying that attacks, whether on Indians or foreigners, are equally unfortunate.
