Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation on Monday started Wi-Fi services at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, the largest bus station in Asia. TSRTC joint managing director G V Ramana Rao inaugurated the Wi-Fi services at MGBS on Monday. The services are offered through 5G Carrier Grade Wi-Fi network with a speed between 2 to 10 mbps. Passengers coming to the bus stations generally come early and spend some time at the station waiting for their buses.
“With increased use of laptops and smart phones, individuals are using internet facilities. Steps are being taken to provide faster Wi-Fi services at the
station, said JMD Ramana Rao. On an average, 3,600 bus services depart daily from MGBS and about 1.2 lakh passengers board buses at the station to reach their destination. Jubilee Bus Station is another major bus station in Hyderabad where daily 1200 bus services are operated and about 40,000 passengers board buses at this bus station.
The Wi-Fi services would be offered for free for the first 15 minutes of use with any network. Different packages would be available for the passengers for utilising the internet facility, based on their individual requirement. The packages would be available in pre/postpaid mode.
