Today is the World Rabies Day. The day is celebrated to aware about rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this horrifying disease. The day also marks anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death, the French chemist and microbiologist, who developed the first rabies vaccine. The theme for 2016 is "Rabies- Educate, Vaccinate, Eliminate".
In India, the treatment of rabies is in thousands
and it is unbearable for common man. But a new research carried by four India doctors, published in a leading international journal, claimed that the cost has been brought down a few hundred rupees. The new research has been carried by Dr. Omesh Kumar Bharti, a government doctor from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and his three friends. The dog and monkey bites incidents reported almost daily in the state.
